About Sea Current Tech
Sea Current Tech is written for seafarers, marine engineers and anyone whose office floats. The editor has spent years working on ships as a marine engineer — so when we review an eSIM, a VPN or a satellite internet plan, it's tested against the reality of port calls, crew Wi-Fi and months away from home, not against a marketing brochure.
What we cover:
- Connectivity at sea — Starlink Maritime, crew internet, eSIMs for port calls, VPNs that survive terrible latency.
- Gear for life on board — gadgets that make a cabin feel like home and survive salt air.
- Digital life for seafarers — banking and money transfers between countries, staying in touch, online courses and certificates that advance a maritime career.
We use AI tools to help research and draft articles, and every recommendation is reviewed by a human before it ships. If we wouldn't take it on board, we don't recommend it.
