Sit with the first annual figure for a second. $4,500 buys 600 MB across twelve months. That is roughly the size of one film trailer folder, spread over a year, for the price of a decent secondhand car.
These figures come from a reseller rather than Iridium's own consumer-facing page, so the live pricing is unconfirmed. The structure still tells you what the service is for. At $14.10 per megabyte on the smallest tier, a single accidental phone backup would cost more than the monthly plan. Nothing in the gathered research states an official technical ceiling for heavy browsing or video, but the arithmetic on those overage rates makes the practical answer plain enough.
Inmarsat FleetBroadband: metered, and thinly documented
Inmarsat FleetBroadband, in the material available, is metered per megabyte rather than sold in large monthly buckets. One reseller lists a 300 MB FleetBroadband-style plan at $26.33 per megabyte, and the snippet gives no wider plan structure. A separate Inmarsat Fleet BB result is a PDF rate sheet that does not expose enough detail to state current prices, caps or speed classes.
That is genuinely all the sourced material supports.
